The East End Bazaar will host Hop & Heat October 22nd, 2012 from 2:00 P – 6:00 P as a FestivALL Fall event.   Hops & Heat, an Appalachian Craft Beer and Chili Cookoff Event celebrating the close to the Open-Air Bazaar season, will encompass over 70 craft beers from more than 20 Appalachian breweries and crown the Bazaar’s best chili in a chili cookoff competition between 10 Bazaar cooks. The Hops & Heat Chili Cookoff (details below) winner will receive a custom award created by Bazaar artist Kelly Bryant of Studio 13.

This year the Hopped & Heated beer competition will be added.  Breweries bringing chili-themed beers will be judged to whose is the best and which will win a custom award.

Only 500 tickets will be sold.  Craft Drinker Tickets cost $30 and include 4 oz. samples of beer, unlimited chili samples, three 12 oz. beer tickets, and one branded tasting cup; only 400 are available.  Non Drinker Tickets cost $20 and include unlimited chili samples and access to food vendors, live music, and East End Bazaar artisans.



Hops & Heat Chili Cookoff

Registration to enter the Hops and Heat Chili Cookoff is $20. Two competitors will share one of our 10 x 10 Bazaar booths. All cooks will receive a Hops & Heat chili cookoff apron, sampling cups, spoons, gloves, complementary bag, three beer tickets, and a 4 oz. sampling cup for craft beers.

Cooks may begin preparing their chili at 10:00 A. ALL competition chili must be prepared on site. All contestants are expected to bring the necessary materials to make their chili on-site. Premade chili may be brought for the audience. People’s choice will make up 25% of the vote while each of the five celebrity judges will contribute 75% toward picking the Bazaar’s Best Chili.
