2015 was our most successful year yet with over 1,000 registrants and 1,500 attendees during the St. Patrick’s East End Pub Crawl.  Special thanks to all of our hard-working volunteers, businesses, sponsors, and organizational partners for making this event such a spotlight for the East End business district!

Building on the success of last year’s event, we’ve brought back some key partners, including FOOTMAD (Friends of Old Time Music and Dance) to provide live, local music from some great Celtic bands.  PUB CRAWL LATE NIGHT, which includes Broadway, The Monkey Barrel, and Lee Street Lounge, returns for a third year.  FREE trolley rides provided by KRT starting at 10 PM! Safe rides home provided through the Intoxi-Taxi service of C&H Taxi will run from 7 PM – 1 AM. FREE cab rides to your home within a 10-mile radius. DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE! 304.344.4902!  Also, the Shamrock Challenge is back, and we’re giving away gift cards from your favorite local East End retailers and restaurants for one lucky crawler who can “find” all 8 of our strategically placed shamrocks throughout the evening.  Don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind event and an opportunity to continue the revitalization of Charleston’s oldest and most diverse business district.

FOOTMAD (Friends of Old-Time Music and Dance) and the East End Pub Crawl will honor Irish-American and West Virginia lawyer Thomas P. Maroney.  “Pat Maroney is the West Virginian who is most knowledgeable about the Irish-American connection. Beginning in the ’80s he started bringing people together to celebrate that connection. Before that, you couldn’t find an Irishman to raise a glass with,” explained George Daugherty. FOOTMAD organizers remember Maroney’s role as an original organizer and benefactor of their Celtic music program 35 years ago.  FOOTMAD represents the Irish-American heritage that is important because so many have Irish roots in the state, and much of the politics and challenges are reflected in the history of that nation’s working-class people. The performance stage between Tricky Fish and the Red Carpet Lounge will be named “The Pat Maroney Stage” in his honor, and the O’Daugherty Family Singers will dedicate their performance to Maroney as an exemplary Irish-American.

Live music includes: The Contrarians, The Appalachian Celtic Consort, Mountain Thyme, The O’Daughtery Family Singers and T.J. King and Garrett Manor of the Charleston Rogues.
